| |July 20195VOL 2 · ISSUE 5-3 · JULY 10 - 2019Cloud computing is a big business dominated by the world's largest tech companies. Three of the four most valuable tech companies -- Amazon, Microsoft and Google -- are among the most prominent players. Competing with these giants is a tall order, and therefore investors have a hard time deciding whether they would fund a startup taking on an Amazon or a Microsoft in the cloud world. However, (now this is a personal opinion) they start a company because they know the pain, and they understand the pain. Small is the catchword for these companies, but small is not their stride in innovation. Most of these companies are self-funded. They make do with 100 employees on average, their annual revenues are under Rs 50 crore, and the cost of their products can be as low as Rs 5 per user. Still, they are profitable. These companies may be taking baby steps, but they're doing something the bigger IT companies aren't: developing products to which they own intellectual property rights. While Chennai accounts for almost a third of cloud startups, the rest are located in Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and Delhi. These startups are targeting the 35 million potential customers in small and medium businesses (SMB) in India. Count in the other BRIC nations, plus South Korea and South Africa, and this base crosses 100 million. With growing innovation boosted by a breakneck competition in the cloud market, many use cases have popped up that explore new horizons making the cloud a much more vast and versatile infrastructure. With this take in mind, we at CIO Insider have taken the liberty to present you the 10 most recommended cloud startups of 2019. These startups have done a remarkable job seizing the market demand by its throat and addressing the very pain points that businesses are screaming to mitigate: the growing data problem. I certainly think these startups deserve your attention for tad bit of the struggle SMBs are going through. In the name of Cloud, do let us know what you think !
