One should create an environment of cooper-ation between their team mem-bers so that they work together to achieve team objectives instead of only fulfilling individual goals. This will not only increase in-dividuals productivity but the whole team would become more productive and efficient or in oth-er words company's productivity would increase.Statistics accumulated through various research shows that 75 percent of the employees truly believe that collaboration and teamwork are very important to achieve success. Teamwork can stimulate creativity, innovation and engagement if we use it effec-tively instead of or our staying in our silos and ignoring collabora-tion. There are a number of bene-fits of working in teams for both ourselves personally and for our organization. Not only is it a great opportunity for professional de-velopment, it is also a means of making your work easier. Some thoughts on how to get this done; what exactly is our re-sponsibility as a leaders to facil-itate effective collaboration and team work:1. Build collaboration into your company goals. 2. Show your team members how to create effective groups and work together. Lead by example. During meetings, lay down the importance of collaboration and encourage your teams to go be-yond their boundaries. 3. Experiment and interact with different communication modes. For e.g. E-mails, 1-1 meetings, face-to-face meetings over vid-eo-conference, Skype or other tools. Although the most valuable form of communication is face-to-face. E-mail and texting are the least valuable.4. Facilitate open discussion of the issues at hand without taking any sides of any of the members.5. Create an informal space with-in the workplace where the teams can spend time post formal discussion.6. Be an active listener wherein you listen twice than you speak.7. Teach the importance of being good team player vs. working in silos. It is not easy for a leader to cre-ate successful teams but in case we try basic things we might be able to form successful and collab-orated teams. These teams share several defining characteristics which includes:- Everyone on the team talks and listens in roughly equal measure, keeping contribu-tions short and sweet. Members face one another, and their con-versations and gestures are ener-getic. Members connect directly with one another--not just with the team leader.A team is a reflection of its leadership so make sure your Team reflects your thoughts at its best.
