Amazon India's Logistics, Payments Unit Reports 7-9 Percent Increase in Operational Revenue
During the fiscal year that concluded in March 2024, Amazon India's logistics and payments divisions reported a 7-9 percent increase in operational revenue and certain reduced losses, while its wholesale division, which distributes goods and services in bulk to retailers and distributors, experienced a slight dip.

Operating revenue for Amazon Transportation Services (ATS), the company's transportation division in India, increased by 7.6 percent from Rs 4,543 crore in FY23 to Rs 4,889 crore in FY24. According to papers obtained from business intelligence firm Tofler, their net loss decreased somewhat by 6.9percent to Rs 80 crore from Rs 86 crore during that time frame.
Compared to FY23, when it recorded operating revenue of Rs 3,600 crore, Amazon Wholesale reported operating revenue of Rs 3,577 crore in FY24. Due to stricter foreign direct investment (FDI) laws for e-commerce businesses owned by foreign corporations, the company has been reducing operations. In FY24, its net loss decreased by 44 percent to Rs 342 crore.
Amazon invested Rs 850 crore on Amazon Pay in FY23 and another Rs 600 crore in May FY25 to strengthen its competitive efforts against Paytm, PhonePe, and Google Pay.
Amazon Pay ranked as the seventh-largest UPI player in India by transaction volume as of September, processing 70.9 million Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions, behind the applications for PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, Cred, Navi, and Axis Bank.

ATS did not receive any further funding from its parent company in FY24. In two installments, Rs 400 crore in January 2023 and Rs 375 crore in June 2022, its parent company provided it with a total capital infusion of Rs 775 crore.
The local marketplace operated by the US e-commerce behemoth Amazon Seller Services has not yet submitted its FY24 financial figures. At Rs 22,198 crore, it recorded a modest 3.4percent gain in operational revenue in FY23, which was much slower than the 32percent growth in FY22. In FY23, the unit's losses also increased by 33percent to Rs 4,854 crore. Revenue from the Amazon marketplace increased by 49percent in FY21.
