Amazon has disclosed its decision to discontinue its Android app store, with a deadline of August 20, 2025.

The company acknowledged that consumers may lose the ability to use apps and games they downloaded from the store as a result of this.

As of February 20, 2025, Amazon Coins, which may be used to make in-app or app purchases on the store, will no longer be sold.

However, until operations stop, anyone who has a good balance can still spend them.

The company committed to refund any unused Amazon Coins purchased after August 20.

Information on the procedure will be available "at a later date," the official shutdown FAQ states.

Additionally, you can use this link to download and install the app store's APK on your Android phone.

A slight discount on in-app purchases was typically included when using Amazon Coins, which was helpful for games like Hearthstone.

Note that only the Android version of the app store is being shut down; Fire TV and Fire Tablet devices will continue to have access to it.

Like Epic Games is doing now with the Epic Games Store, Amazon used to promote its app store much more in the 2010s and even launched a campaign where it gave away a lot of apps for free in an attempt to draw customers to the platform.

As a result, a large number of players may have amassed a substantial collection of mobile games via the Amazon app store.

Before the shutdown, consumers who wants to save apps they bought or claimed through the store should download them to their phones.
