Apple Gains Another Quarter Revenue Record in India: CEO Tim Cook
According to Tim Cook, CEO of the company, Apple saw robust double-digit growth in India during the December quarter, setting a new revenue record for the nation.
Apple reported $119.6 billion in quarterly revenue for the first quarter of its fiscal 2024, which ended on December 30. This is a two percent increase in revenue over the same period last year.
Cook emphasised the records set in Chile, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, India, and the December quarter.
Cook mentioned several times that India "hit a quarter revenue record" in the December quarter and experienced robust double-digit growth in revenue.
India's smartphone shipments in 2023 stayed steady at 152 million units, but Apple shipped more than 10 million units and took the top spot in terms of revenue for the first time in a calendar year.
"For Apple, the opening of own retail stores and increasing focus on LFR (large-format retail) through regular promotions contributed to increased offline shipments. Besides, higher trade-in values presented an appealing proposition for consumers to transition to iOS," said Counterpoint research analyst Shubham Singh.
Apple's CFO, Luca Maestri, emphasised Zoho, a well-known SaaS technology firm with its headquarters in India. Zoho provides a range of devices to its more than 15,000 global employees; 80 percent of them use iPhones for work, and almost two-thirds use Macs as their primary computer.
We are confident in our future, and continue to make significant investments across our business to support our long-term growth plans
“We are pleased to announce that our installed base of active devices has now surpassed 2.2 billion, reaching an all-time high across all products and geographic segments,” adds Cook.
"We are confident in our future, and continue to make significant investments across our business to support our long-term growth plans," says Maestri.
