According to reports, Generative AI (GenAI) is set to revolutionize India's workforce by transforming 38 million jobs and driving substantial economic growth by 2030.

Adoption of GenAI could increase India's economic productivity by 2.61 percent in the organized sector, and by an extra 2.82 percent if it is extensively embraced by the unorganized sector.

According to reports, there is enormous potential for GenAI across industries, with 42 percent of jobs being improved by AI augmentation and 24 percent of tasks being totaly automatable.

Knowledge workers could save 8–10 hours a week as a result, freeing them up to concentrate on higher-value tasks. Because of its large labour share in gross output, the services sector is anticipated to gain the most.

It is anticipated that processes including client acquisition, operations, and service will undergo major changes in the financial services, healthcare, and retail industries.

Meanwhile, IT/ITeS and BPO sectors will undergo substantial changes. However, industries like auto and pharma may see limited productivity gains, with a marginal increase of around 2 percent.

Call centre management is expected to witness a productivity improvement of up to 80 percent among specific business processes; while software development may see a 61 percent increase.

GenAI is unlocking unprecedented opportunities across sectors, fundamentally reshaping jobs and driving innovation

Customer service may increase by 44 percent, sales and marketing by 41 percent, and content creation and distribution by 45 percent.

Rajiv Memani, chairman and CEO of EY India says, "GenAI is unlocking unprecedented opportunities across sectors, fundamentally reshaping jobs and driving innovation. To harness this potential, building talent pipelines and prioritizing upskilling must be at the forefront of every organization’s agenda."
