IT, Electronics Sectors Welcome Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jitin Prasada

The IT and electronics sectors welcomed the election of ministry leadership by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada, in hopes to accelerate India's ascent to the position of a global leader in semiconductors and electronics.

Assuming the role of Union minister, Vaishnaw moved on to Electronics Niketan, responsible for information technology and electronics.

Starting day one at Rail Bhawan, Vaishnaw took charge as the federal minister of railways for the second time. Later, he went to the ministry of information and broadcasting, where he assumed leadership and got to know a few of the ministry's top brass.

"We congratulate Ashwini Vaishnaw who has retained his portfolio as Minister of Electronics and IT and the newly-appointed MoS Prasada. Minister Vaishnaw’s continuity will pave the way in ensuring a step up of support to the sector and MoS Prasada’s fresh perspectives will add to the sector's contribution to economic growth and job creation," said Dr V. Veerappan, Chairman, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA).

While Prasada took over as Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Electronics and IT, and Railways, Vaishnaw accepted responsibility as Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Minister of Railways, and Minister of Electronics and IT.

The industry experts pointed out that now is the moment to work together to take action that has the ability to completely change how the world views India as a center for manufacturing.

According to Veerappan, the IESA is eager to collaborate closely with MeitY to bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Viksit Bharat" vision to reality.

The reappointment of Vaishnaw as Union Minister of Electronics and IT will support the industry in its goal of positioning the nation as a global center for the design and production of electronics products, according to Dr. Ajai Chowdhry, co-founder of HCL, chairman of the EPIC Foundation, and chairman of the Mission Governing Board, National Quantum.

"An architect for the semiconductor manufacturing movement of the country, Minister Vaishnaw has played an instrumental role in creating a well-oiled ecosystem enabling exports of electronics from India," he added.

Furthermore, the industry is only anticipated to benefit from the appointment of MoS Prasada.

The design and production of electronics products in the nation will be significantly shaped over the next five years. The industry experts pointed out that now is the moment to work together to take action that has the ability to completely change how the world views India as a center for manufacturing.
