Microsoft has expanded the footprint of one of its R&D centers, India Development Center (IDC), in the National Capital Region (NCR). Set up in 1998 at Hyderabad, the center represents the company’s strategy of globally shared development to build products and services.

The center shelters and nurtures some of the nation’s most talented individuals which is seated in three locations, Bangalore, Noida and Hyderabad, within the tech giant’s three technology groups, Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Research Group, Cloud & Enterprise Group, and Experience & Devices Group.

It has been expanding its footprint across these cities for the last two decades, particularly in its third campus, Noida, which was inaugurated at the dawn of this year.

The tech giant has realized the technology potential in Noida’s market, hence, it has further expanded its center to the latter’s KP towers last month.

Built on the digital innovation drive, this facility is said to stretch about 150,000 sqft and possesses expanded teams from cloud and artificial intelligence (AI), experiences and devices group, Microsoft digital teams and the new gaming division which have a promising growing presence in the nation.

We are set to trigger a new frontier in innovation as we continue to grow our presence across the country, says Kumar

“The KP Towers worksite reinforces Microsoft IDC’s commitment to finding global tech solutions through innovation in India. With an increased presence in NCR- the country’s emerging tech-hub- the facility aims to attract a rich tech talent pool from engineering and management institutions to better meet the needs of Microsoft’s customers and create a direct and indirect economic impact in the region”, says the tech giant.

Also, the center’s architecture is built on the inspiration of the Taj Mahal, boasting with marble inlays, vaulted doorways, arches, and marble domes, that the company describes this center to be a tribute to the country’s historical and rich craftsmanship. Nonetheless, this center has the combination of the tech giant’s latest technologies and locally sourced materials.

The center is said to house the workforce in areas such as AI, Productivity tools, Cloud and enterprise, its new Gaming division and Core Services, while it pursues its hunt for fresh talent to work on these areas.

AI and other research are a part of the center’s efforts including the applying of all its research to its services, apps infrastructure and agents. Its Experience and Device stream creates Microsoft software, games, apps, and hardware. CRM, development tools, cloud infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, and Visual Studio are all handled by the Cloud and Enterprise department. SharePoint, Office 365, and Vision are some of the apps on which the IDC is working. Microsoft's Core Services Engineering team is in charge of the company's most important products and services.

“The expansion of the India Development Centre in Noida is our continued effort to empower every person and every organization on this planet to achieve more. We are set to trigger a new frontier in innovation as we continue to grow our presence across the country. The excellent facilities at the KP Towers workplace provide the right environment for shaping the future of the IT industry in this part of the world”, says Rajiv Kumar, managing director, Microsoft India Development Center.
