Microsoft unlocked a new era for the Windows PC by bringing in Copilot+, a suite of cutting-edge AI capabilities and experiences for Windows 11, available on newly branded PCs bearing the Copilot+ moniker and due to ship this summer.

With Copilot+, the tech giant promises AI features into the upcoming version of Windows 11.

It is said that a PC will be required to have an NPU with at least 40 TOPS of power to qualify as a Copilot+ PC.

Copilot+ PCs are expected to function only on Windows on Arm thanks to Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X Series chips, which are the first Windows PC chips to achieve this benchmark. Later this year, Copilot+ PCs with AMD and Intel CPUs are anticipated.

This represents an example of how artificial intelligence (AI) can improvise your workflow in the background, according to Microsoft, who calls it a genuinely effective productivity tool. In an ideal world, you might ask to recall a conversation, webpage, document, image, or video, and those days would be in the past.

A built-in Timeline interface in the Recall function allows users to go back through various snapshots that Windows has taken depending on your search parameters. If you search for 'dinosaurs', for instance, you can jump to any moment on the timeline when there was material regarding dinosaurs.

In addition, Recall can recognize what is currently shown on your screen and, based on what it perceives, offer relevant contextual recommendations.

The Recall interface may appear while you are viewing an image on a webpage, providing you with one-click editing instructions. Comparing two open papers or articles side by side may also be helpful.

Microsoft is also showcasing updates to Live Captions, which on Copilot+ PCs can translate audio and video from any source—live or recorded—into English in over 40 different languages right on the device without requiring a connection to the cloud.

Even more sophisticated are Windows Studio Effects, which may virtually enhance lighting or add real-time artistic styles to your webcam video stream.
