OpenAI Introduces Series of AI Tool Updates, Enables Customization of ChatGPT
During its first developers conference held in San Francisco this week, OpenAI unveiled a series of artificial intelligence tool updates, including the capability for developers to produce custom performances of ChatGPT.
Additionally, it is launching a digital store and slice base prices for developers while also pledging to pay some who use OpenAI products on their platforms.
The event comes nearly a time after the launch of ChatGPT, which helped renew an arms race among tech companies to develop and emplace analogous AI tools in their products.
CEO Sam Altman said that two million developers are currently using the platform, and about 90 of Fortune 500 companies are using the tools internally.
At present, the platform has 100 million active users.
Even before attendees were allowed to check in early Monday morning, hundreds had lined up around the block in the Mid-Market neighborhood of San Francisco, most of whom were developers formerly using OpenAI technology who wanted updates.
For its two million developers, OpenAI sported a new GPT- 4 Turbo model, which compared to its precursor GPT- 4 is several orders of magnitude cheaper and processes much further data.
It unveiled assistant application programing interfaces( APIs) with vision and image modalities.
It also launched a beta program for developers to fine- tune GPT- 4 models.
Additionally, it is launching a digital store and slice base prices for developers while also pledging to pay some who use OpenAI products on their platforms.
OpenAI wants further enterprises and inventors to make models to compete with those developed by Anthropic and Alphabet's Google, and open source models similar to Meta Platforms' Llama. It also competes for enterprise guests with Microsoft.
Satya Nadella, the CEO of OpenAI backer Microsoft, made a brief, surprise appearance at the conference, reiterating his support for the precious race in structure foundation models. Microsoft has invested further than$ 10 billion in OpenAI.
