At Washington's Blair House, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Thursday and discussed space, mobility, technology and innovation in Washington, DC, for a two-day visit to the US.

"Had a very good meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about such as space, mobility, technology and innovation. I talked about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance," he wrote in another post.

PM Modi was greeted at the Blair House by Elon Musk, the leader of the Donald Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Three of the tech giant's children, X, Strider, and Azure, were with him. Elon Musk presented PM Modi with a Starship hexagonal heatshield tile during the meeting.

Following the conclusion of Musk's talks with US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, PM Modi meets with Musk. India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar joined the prime minister.

Soon after his meeting, PM Modi took to X and said he was delighted to meet Elon Musk's family. "It was also a delight to meet Mr. @elonmusk’s family and to talk about a wide range of subjects," PM Modi posted.

Reports claim that Musk and PM Modi talked about enhancing cooperation between US and Indian organizations in the areas of innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.

Since Donald Trump returned to the White House for a second term, this is PM Modi's first trip to the US. Following his bilateral meeting with the US President, PM Modi is expected to meet with Indian-American politician and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.

Following a delegation-level meeting at the White House with Trump and important members of his Cabinet, PM Modi will have bilateral discussions.

I talked about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance," he wrote in another post.

The US President and Prime Minister Modi's bilateral meeting's agenda has not yet been made public.

But given Donald Trump's recent threats to put tariffs on countries he says are "harming" the US economy, the visit comes at a critical time.

Trump particularly listed Brazil, India, and China as major targets, which added a degree of uncertainty to the talks before PM Modi's visit.
