
The Amendments to the Aadhaar Law will be Harmonized: Ashwini Vaishnaw

The amendments to the Aadhaar law will be harmonized vis-a-vis the b>DPDP Act 2023, keeping user interest at the centre, Union electronics and information technology Ashwini Vaishnaw says.
The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act was notified in the Gazette in August 2023 and the government's intention is now to ensure that the Aadhaar law is in tune with the Act. The rules required to operationalise the DPDP Act will be notified in two months. The draft rules were published on January 3.
Ashwini says,"When the Aadhaar Act was made, no appropriate data protection and privacy protection law existed. Now we have the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. After a lot of consultation and discussions, the rules have been formulated and prepared." no appropriate data protection and privacy protection law existed

On Tuesday, the minister had launched a new Aadhaar app that will allow for face ID authentication.
