Indian MNC Wipro which provides solutions to Information technology, consulting, and business process service is planning to take its artificial intelligence framework – Ethica to clients. Its new CEO Thierry Delaporte has ramped its offerings of internal digital technology-based solutions and as per him, people are familiar with the development.

Wipro HOLMES says that AI solutions are known as Explainability Transparency, Human-First, Interpretability, Common Sense, and Auditability (Ethica) will help companies ensuring their consumer-facing solutions are transparent, ethical, and unbiased.

Banks can also use Ethica for eliminating potential bias for processing loan applications. Ethica can mask irrelevant data and other customer information that leads to biases. Ethica uses other relevant factors like purchase and payment history as per reports by IDC and Wipro.

Ethica can help in unbiased revenue prediction for companies by analyzing multiple parameters without any biases. “Wipro is now looking forward to creating a revenue stream out of Ethica and present it to the clients separately and bundled with pre-existing services,” said an ET personnel.

Ethica solution can help in unbiased anomaly detection in payment-related transactions as per another ET personnel. Framework for Ethica was made two years ago and the solution is now being pushed as an AI tool. Ethica analysis is strong and will add ‘Considerable value’ while Wipro is struggling to differentiate Wipro HOLMES – AI platform in the market.

Phil Fersht, Chief Executive of HfS Research says, “Ethica is a strong development within Wipro and taken out leadership change delayed its commercialization with clients. Now as Thierry Delaporte has safely installed Ethica and the AI demand, automation solutions will grow stronger in the present digital environment. Wipro means business and will become more aggressive to push its digital capabilities into the market.”

Fersht told that Wipro can set an aspirational target for the first year for Ethica and a more calculated target later.

AI and intelligent automation adoption have become a top priority for all global technology and business leaders. However, productionizing and scaling this beyond pilot programs are prime challenges in nearly 90 percent of the enterprises as stated by Tapati Bandopadhayay, Industry Expert on AI, and Automation.

She said that a key lever to hike AI adoption is creating trust among employees, users, customers, and leaders. Trust is created through ethical AI practices and Accenture calls it responsible AI, Microsoft promotes the ideas of transparent and interpretable AI. Wipro for example has taken a few steps in the journey of trust-building through Ethica framework.
