As per reports, Mobikwik’s payment gateway arm, Zaakpay, has integrated with Meta to offer an embedded payment solution within WhatsApp, providing businesses and consumers access to multiple payment options, including credit and debit cards, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and digital wallets.

Users can make payments using MobiKwik Wallet, ZIP, and Pocket UPI, offering flexibility to suit individual payment preferences.

This integration will allow micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to leverage WhatsApp's vast user base, especially in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, to expand their business reach. In addition, secure payments can be made directly within WhatsApp chats, increasing customer convenience and business efficiency.

“Combining Zaakpay’s secure payment gateway with WhatsApp’s vast user base, we aim to unlock immense potential in India’s hinterlands. We are forging an ecosystem where shopping, payments, and business engagement happen seamlessly in one place,” says Harvinder Singh Chadha, business head, ZaakPay.

This integration with Zaakpay is another step in building a more seamless purchase experience, allowing people to make payments using their preferred payment method for a product or service they want to buy from a business right within their WhatsApp chat

Zaakpay allows businesses to accept payments in multiple modes, including credit and debit cards, UPI, net banking, digital wallets, and Pay Later options. The suite of gateways includes online checkout, payment links, and QR code-based payments.

This partnership with WhatsApp highlights the growing importance of digital and conversational commerce in supporting businesses of all sizes while simplifying transactions and promoting financial inclusion.

In 2023, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) gave Zaakpay approval in principle to operate as a payment aggregator.

“This integration with Zaakpay is another step in building a more seamless purchase experience, allowing people to make payments using their preferred payment method for a product or service they want to buy from a business right within their WhatsApp chat," says Ravi Garg, director, business messaging at Meta India.
