In an exclusive interview with CIO Insiders magazine, Satish Jha, Chairman of Edufront Technologies discusses the organization’s offerings, his future roadmap for the organization, and much more.
Could you share the journey of Edufront Technologies since its inception and its growth so far?
Edufront Technologies was founded with the goal of using the latest technologies to revolutionize the way students learn, teachers teach and offer solutions that empower them. We started by providing free technology solutions to schools, non-profit and for-profit, rural and urban, while concentrating on underprivileged areas and students.
We assisted schools by diagnosing and guiding educators in successfully incorporating technologies into their learning ecosystem. Our goal is to help all educators appreciate the possibility of leveraging technologies to enhance learning outcomes by an order of magnitude and we have seen that it
results in life changing experiences for both teachers and students as we progress. Currently, Edufront Techno- logies is supporting 18,000 students fulltime and is on track to connect with 27,000 students by the end of December 2024.
Could you tell us about the unique selling proposition (USP) of your company and how it differentiates from others in the education technology space?
Our organization's strategy is centered around bringing about significant and long-lasting changes in the education ecosystem rather than on making money here and now or expanding quickly. We are aware that transforming education for the needs of our times will be a long journey. We put in time and money to guarantee tangible, quantifiable results and contrast to those who supply tools and equipments only.
We ensure that the technology we provide enhances learning by fostering an environment where curiosity and engagement thrive
For example, we gave away technology solutions to 9,000 students in 27 schools without charging any fees or seeking any contributions from schools, since our goal was to demonstrate how our approach can help dramatically improve the learning outcomes as well as upgrade the quality of teaching among the teachers. Edufront has created a smooth educational ecosystem that incorporates all known required elements, in contrast to prevailing approaches that provide disjointed technological solutions. Each classroom has an interactive digital board, each teacher has a tablet, and each student gets a tablet along with the necessary contents mandated by education boards schools work with.
Our approach is to establish the Digital Learning Ecosystem rather than simply providing the equipment or devices to schools. Instead, we appoint skilled technology and pedagogy experts to be available at the schools and ensure that every student and every teacher can access the complete Digital Learning Ecosystem all the time. Indeed, our teams also visit the schools to make sure that our framework is properly utilized and both learners and teachers don’t feel challenged by the technologies we provide. What distinguishes us is the level of handson engagement. We are there to assist both students and teachers in everyday troubleshoots and guarantee seamless operations.
Can you share an example of how Edufront’s technology has led to signi-ficant student success?
One of the best examples of how Edufront Technologies influences student achievements was at a Jaipur school. Two students from the school placed first on a test given by the New York State Education System, which examined more than 50,000 students and this was achieved at the school where the tuition fees is only ₹700 per month.
These students, who were a part of the Edufront Technologies ecosystem, had access to tablets and interactive digital boards. They performed exceptionally well because they were able to connect deeply with the content due to the technologies and assistance provided by Edufront Technologies.
We always encourage students to become more curious about what they want to learn, and we provide them with necessary resources to succeed, even to those from underprivileged backgrounds. So, we recommend to the schools 'Don’t teach, let them learn'.
How do you understand the unique requirements of each school, especially in a diverse country like India, and do you offer customization for your services?
We work in collaboration with schools to establish a Digital learning Ecosystem that aligns with students' goals and meets their needs. Our mission is to Let them Learn at the Frontiers of their aspirations. Our strategy focuses on integrating needs over time rather than offering instant fixes for all of them.
When several schools from any geography share similar needs, we get together and figure out how to integrate those needs into our system. Although we don't provide off-the-shelf solutions, we can tailor our offerings to meet the unique needs of every school, providing a variety of options that accommodate different needs.
What are your plans for the company and its growth?
With 34 schools currently working with, we have an ambitious goal of increasing it to 1,000 schools within the next four years, serving between 300,000 and 400,000 students. We anticipate having 27,000 students by the end of December 2024 and approximately 350,000 students by 2028. However, we plan to grow steadily and sustainably so that our ecosystem can support these students' and schools' needs. Our goal is to establish a strong ecosystem that supports our students in learning to get ready for the times ahead.
