Given the massive geographical area & population in the world, it is critical to ensure that the healthcare system functions in the most optimized and efficient manner. Technologies such as AI/ML, Data Analytics, and RPA have emerged as life savers in this regard by enabling healthcare organizations to improve the operational efficiency of their entire process and provide enhanced outcomes to patients. Although the healthcare sector in India was a tad slow in terms of technology adoption, the country is now among the world’s fastest-growing markets for health tech, with customers too whole heartedly welcoming this confluence of technology and healthcare. In terms of AI alone, the Indian healthcare AI market which stood at $10 billion in 2021 is expected to be worth $35 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 30 percent during the forecast period.
Among the myriad of companies that are currently operating in the healthcare IT space, one company that stands a notch higher than the rest is Sanbav Technologies. Based in Alappuzha, Sanbav was established in 2023 with a vision to revolutionize the healthcare ecosystem by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AI and offer enhanced outcomes to patients. In an exclusive interaction with CIO Insider, Ajayraj J, (Co-Founder & Chairman, Sanbav Technologies) shared more information about his company, its key areas of operations, and many other interesting aspects. Below are a few excerpts from the exclusive interview -
Tell us about Sanbav Technologies & the various services that it offers.
As a leading healthcare IT solutions provider, we focus primarily on two areas - Digital Healthcare & Medical Imaging. Under digital healthcare, we connect patients with hospitals in the most efficient way possible by automating the entire process through AI technology integration. Further, we also build customized solutions for hospitals to take care of their diverse requirements such as automating workflows and many others. In terms of
medical imaging, we have developed an AI algorithm that enables medical researchers and doctors to make highly precise diagnoses of the patients' scanned images, eliminating the risk of missing out on any minute details. However, this algorithm can only be used as a guidance tool for medical personnel and not be deployed for full-fledged diagnosis, as it is yet to be approved by the FDA.
The main vision & mission of our company has always been to provide value engineering which we define as providing our customers with products that are both high quality and cost-efficient
Currently, there is a dearth of quality products that enable AI researchers in healthcare to train in a standardized manner; and the available ones are priced very high and cannot be afforded by all. Thus, we have taken a unique approach to address this challenge and are providing open source software at zero cost and charge only for its customization and maintenance. This way, we are helping the researchers to carry out their medical research activities with ease without having to worry about the cost factor. We consider this software as our flagship offering and it has been a real game changer for us in the market.
What are some of the key differential factors that make your company's offerings stand out in the market?
Although there are many platforms currently operational in the market that connect patients with the hospitals, they are seldom concerned about the overall efficiency of the process. However, we not only connect the patients with the doctors but also automate the entire workflow functions of the hospital. For instance, in terms of appointment management, our custom-built AI algorithm takes into consideration the availability periods of the doctors and accordingly optimizes the process in such a way that the maximum number of patients can come and visit the doctor. This way, we are not only helping hospitals to serve more patients and enhance their revenues but also enabling patients to get access to quality healthcare without the hassle of waiting for long durations. This has been a key USP for us and positioned us among the most preferred health-tech companies in the market.
How do you ensure the quality of your products and services?
The main vision and mission of our company have always been to provide value engineering – which we define as providing our customers with products that are both high quality and cost-efficient. We strictly follow this in all our processes and make sure to never compromise in this regard. Additionally, we adhere to all healthcare-related regulatory frameworks and ensure to follow IEC 62304 standards in our software development processes. Further, keeping in mind the data-sensitive nature of our business, we have a very stringent QMS in place, with all our software and solutions being fully compliant with ISO 14971 guidelines as well.

What is the future roadmap envisioned for Sanbav Technologies?
Going forward, we are planning to foray into Europe and open a new office potentially in Germany. Having seen the huge gap that currently exists in terms of medical reporting and medical research tooling, we will be focusing on bringing about a new revolution and disrupting the sector in the days to come. Most importantly, we are looking forward to getting ISO 13485 certification shortly.
